ServicePaket

Studierendenwerk Heidelberg offers international students something special to make planning your degree, calculating costs and beginning studying easier. It's called “ServicePackage”, and can be booked before you set off from home.

The package covers the most important issues encountered at the start of your degree and makes bureaucracy a lot less daunting. We make sure that the start of your life in Heidelberg is stress-free: even before you arrive, we assign you a personal go-to person. You'll also receive extensive support to make sure everything runs smoothly during the first couple of days, and we also help you navigate the maze of German bureaucracy.

What's included and how much does it cost?

The ServicePackage includes:

accommodation in a dormitory for one semester (= 6 months)
a Semesterticket
a CampusCard with an initial credit amount of €95,-

A ServicePackage costs €2.700,- (plus 450,- Euro deposit for the room in the dormitory) for one semester (= 6 months).

Who can book a ServicePaket?

University applicants from abroad with little knowledge of German, who haven't yet lived or studied in Germany, and who have sent an application for admission to the University of Heidelberg (Universität Heidelberg) or the University of Education (Pädagogische Hochschule). Short-term or exchange students (e.g. Erasmus), as well as students from foreign German-speaking areas are given a lower priority.

How long can a ServicePaket be reserved for?

A ServicePackage can only be booked for one semester. After this, you can extend the contract with a normal rental contract (without a ServicePackage).

Can I choose the domitory I would like to stay in?

You cannot choose a specific dormitory. (You will get a furnished single room in a flat share in one of the following dormitories: INF 129, 133, 134, 135, 136, 660-662, 674-683.)

When does the ServicePaket contract begin and end?

The winter semester at the University of Heidelberg begins on 01st October and ends on 31st March. The summer semester begins on 01st April and ends on 30th September. The ServicePackage contract therefore begins either on 01st October or 01st April. If you are attending a preparatory language class in September or March, then you can reserve the ServicePackage for a month earlier. (This costs 350,- Euro extra.)
